Sliding Scale

Considering how to encourage and participate in more equitable economic structures, it is important to me to offer sliding scale fee spots to clients who survive systemic disenfranchisement. As clients with access to more financial resources pay higher fees, I am able to provide therapy to clients impacted by forms of economic injustice. Please reference my fees page for resources about things to consider when contemplating sliding scale fee.

COVID-19 Risk Mitigation

I implement multiple layers of risk mitigation to slow the spread of COVID-19 (and other illnesses). I require two-way masking for in-person sessions, so this means I wear an N95 mask and clients wear a KF94+ grade mask. I provide a variety of KN95 and N95 masks. There is a HEPA air filter running in the waiting room and one in my office. I open two windows in my office to create a cross-breeze, and have two fans running to improve ventilation—the CO2 reading is generally no higher than 500ppm. All in-person clients commit to tracking for symptoms and exposures and opting for a virtual session when there is present illness or recent exposure. Please note that my building and shared suite waiting room are no longer spaces where masks are required, and clients have the option to wait outside of the building. I usually unmask in my office for virtual sessions and between sessions. We use disinfectant to clean surfaces, and fidget toys/objects are also cleaned with soap and water between clients. There is fragrance-free hand sanitizer in the bathroom and in my office.

Stairs, Lifts, Doors, & Seats

There is a push button to open the ground level entrance door, accessible from the sidewalk. The other building entrance is up 14 stairs along a winding walkway, tucked back from the street. There is a small (4.5’ x 5.5’) well-maintained elevator accessible from the ground floor entrance. The narrowest door is to my office, and is 29.5” wide. There is space to park a chair or scooter beside the couch, and you are always welcome to remain seated on your mobility device. The couch has firm cushions, a weight-bearing capacity of over 1,000 lbs, and its seat is 59” wide, 23” deep to the back cushions, and 19” high. It is upholstered with a multi-directional micro-velvet.

There is an ADA bathroom on the ground floor of the building, near the elevator. The ensuite bathroom beside my office has a 26” wide door frame, two long horizontal grab bars to the side and behind the toilet, and some room for smaller wheelchairs and scooters (there is also room in the waiting area to leave a mobility device outside of the bathroom door). The toilet seat in this bathroom is on the smaller side, measuring 14” wide, 16” deep, and 16” tall.

Fragrance

My officemate and I are committed to reducing scent in our office and encourage low scent in our shared suite. We offer unscented soap, lotion, and deodorizer spray in the bathroom, as well as unscented hand sanitizer in the office. We do not use chemical or scented cleaning products in the office and ask that cleaning staff not use scented products in our suite.

If you need guidance around what that means, please review this resource from EBMC: www.eastbaymeditation.org/resources/fragrance-free-at-ebmc

Telehealth

I can offer phone or video sessions through the Simple Practice video conferencing or through Zoom. My Zoom account has capacity for auto closed captioning.
